CHAPTER FIFTEEN

The weekend before our end of semester exams, Austin came to pick me up. He told me to wear a nice dress or skirt, so I wore a black pencil skirt with a burgundy wrap. I felt so nervous. I knew this was the night he would take me out to dinner with his parents, and afterward, since Lyla would be out clubbing, we’d return to the flat together . . .

The knock on the door startled me out of my memories. I rushed to answer it. Austin blew me away. He looked so incredible in his fitted, black pinstriped pants and white dress shirt.

Austin grabbed me by the waist as he handed me a bunch of flowers. “Are you okay?”

“Holy cow, you’re hot.”

He laughed. “Oh! You’re swooning.” He tossed the flowers onto the couch. “I’ve never done that to a girl before. I must say, it’s a pretty awesome feeling.”

I ran my hand down his arm. “I still can’t believe all of this is just from diving.”

His arms tightened, pulling me up against him. “There’s no one else I’d rather impress.”

My knees wobbled as he nibbled on my ear.

He chuckled softly. “You know, it’s a good thing we’ll be sitting tonight because you’re a bit shaky on your legs.”

“Shut up.” I forced myself to calm down, then picked up the flowers. “These are beautiful. Thank you. Let me just put them in water and we’ll head out.”

He followed me into the kitchen, and while I searched for a tall glass, his hand rested on my behind. I froze, my nerves rising in anticipation of what would happen later.

“Wow, this skirt makes your butt look incredible.” His hand ran over it, taking in the curves, and gave it a firm squeeze.

I gasped and swung around to face him. “Don’t do that, or we’ll never get out of here.”

His eyes twinkled at my implication. “I’m okay with that.”

He rushed at me, grabbing my breasts and kissing my neck. He was already raring to go, and as my hands rested on his hips, I realized I was too.

“Austin?” I said breathlessly.

“Yeah?”

“We can’t stand up your parents.”

He pried himself off me. “Yeah.” He reached around me and plugged the sink. “This will do for now.”

He turned on the faucet. Our eyes locked as the water filled the sink, the tension rising between us. There was no doubt where the night was headed.

When he turned off the water and severed our eye contact, I took a sharp breath, stunned by the power he had over me. He rested the stems in the water and grasped my hand. “Let’s go.”

He took me to a stunning restaurant on the riverfront. I found myself breathless all over again. The first time we’d gone there to meet his parents, I’d stood completely in awe of the view, and he had to pull me away from the window to eat. This time, I mustered up my self-control and simply gazed out in awe as we followed the hostess to our table.
